CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey team completed a 2-0-0 weekend on the road after defeating Cortland 5-1 Saturday night.
The Cardinals would grab a 1-0 lead in the first period when
Michael Radisa scored his first of the season.
Cortland would find the equalizer 11:08 into the second period when Mike Davie found the back of the net.
With the game being 1-1 entering the third period, Plattsburgh State would light the lamp four times to pull away from the Red Dragons.
Defenseman
Rich Botting would break the tie just 1:40 into the third period, converting on a power play.
Another defenseman
Ayrton Valente would pad the Cardinals lead to 3-1 with his first goal of the season 7:01 in the third.
Senior,
Connor Gorman would score his second goal in as many games giving senior,
Luke Baleshta his first point of the season as he picked up the primary assist.
Kyle Hall would cap the Cardinal scoring just one minute after Gorman netted his to capture a 5-1 advantage.
Brady Rouleau started in net for the Cardinals making 15 saves on 16 shots. Drew Weigman faced 52 Plattsburgh State shots corralling 47 of them.
No. 5 Plattsburgh State improves to 5-0-0 (4-0-0 SUNYAC) while Cortland suffered its second-straight loss and falls to 1-3-1 (1-3-1 SUNYAC).
The Cardinals will faceoff with Potsdam next Saturday as both teams are undefeated this season and will compete for the top spot in the SUNYAC standings.
