PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey team looks to return to the top of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) and make a deep postseason run as it prepares for a 25-game regular-season schedule in 2026-27.

Led by seventh-year head coach Steve Moffat, the Cardinals enter the 2026-27 season looking to return to the SUNYAC Tournament and make another postseason run. 
Plattsburgh State opens the season with a pair of exhibition contests at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena, first welcoming MCLA on Friday, Oct. 16, before hosting Canton on Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m.

The Cardinals begin regular-season play on the road, traveling to Vermont State University Castleton on Friday, Oct. 30, for a 7 p.m. matchup before facing Plymouth State on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 6 p.m.

SUNYAC play begins the following month as Plattsburgh State hosts longtime rival Oswego State on Friday, Nov. 13, at 7 p.m. The Cardinals remain at home the following evening to take on defending SUNYAC champion Hobart on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. Plattsburgh State then heads on the road for conference contests against Morrisville on Friday, Nov. 20, and Cortland on Saturday, Nov. 21. 

The Cardinals return home for Thanksgiving weekend to host the annual LayerEight Shootout. Plattsburgh State opens tournament play against Saint Michael's on Friday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m. Depending on results, the Cardinals will face either Norwich or Middlebury in the championship or consolation game on Saturday, Nov. 28, at either 3:30 p.m. or 7 p.m.
Plattsburgh State concludes the 2026 calendar year with a pair of SUNYAC home games, welcoming Fredonia on Friday, Dec. 4, at 7 p.m. before taking on Buffalo State on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 4 p.m.

The Cardinals begin the new year by hosting the Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic. Plattsburgh State takes on Manhattanville on Saturday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. before facing either Connecticut College or Canton in the tournament's championship or consolation game on Sunday, Jan. 3, at either 3:30 p.m. or 7 p.m.

Conference play resumes on Friday, Jan. 8, as the Cardinals host Skidmore at 7 p.m. Plattsburgh State then travels to Middlebury for its final non-conference game of the regular season on Tuesday, Jan. 12, before heading to Canton and Potsdam on Jan. 15 and Jan. 16.

The Cardinals return to the Stafford Ice Arena the following weekend, hosting Cortland on Friday, Jan. 22, at 7 p.m. and Morrisville on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 4 p.m. Plattsburgh State closes January on the road with games at Hobart on Friday, Jan. 29, and Oswego State on Saturday, Jan. 30.

February begins with a road trip to western New York as the Cardinals face Buffalo State on Friday, Feb. 5, and Fredonia on Saturday, Feb. 6. Plattsburgh State then visits Skidmore on Friday, Feb. 12, before returning home for its final regular-season weekend against Potsdam on Friday, Feb. 19, at 7 p.m. and Canton on Saturday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m.

The top eight teams in the final regular-season conference standings will qualify for the SUNYAC Tournament, with first-round games scheduled for Feb. 24, the semifinals set for Feb. 27 and the championship game slated for March 6.
