PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State Cardinals will kick-off their 2015 State University of New York Athletic Conference tournament run by hosting the Brockport Golden Eagles on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Saturday's matchup will feature a rematch of the Cardinals regular season finale against Brockport just seven days ago.
In the first meeting, despite a 29-4 shot advantage for the Cardinals, Plattsburgh State and Brockport fought to 1-1 double overtime tie.
Brockport struck first in the 50
th minute when senior Chelsea Stahl netted her fifth goal of the season. Plattsburgh State would find the equalizer late in the 84 minute when
Madeline Saccocio sunk a corner kick into the back of the net.
Cardinal's goalkeeper
Nichole Gibson will figure to start in net for the Cardinals, she made two saves in the first matchup. Her counterpart Catherine Eliasson made 13 saves for the Golden Eagles as she kept the Plattsburgh State offense at bay.
On the season, Plattsburgh State has been lead offensively by junior striker
Anissa Hartmann. Hartmann leads the SUNYAC in goals (13) and points (27). Her 13 goals put her as the only player in the conference with double digit goals.
Brockport will look for Stahl to carry the offensive burden. She has a team-high five goals and 12 points for the Golden Eagles. Stahl is the only player to have more than two goals for Brockport.
The winner of Saturday's contest will face top-seeded Buffalo State on Wednesday, November 4. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.
