PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. — The fourth-seeded Plattsburgh State men's soccer team (13-5-1) continues its postseason with a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Semifinal matchup Wednesday at top-seeded Oneonta (11-3-4). Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. This is the third time in four seasons that the Cardinals and Red Dragons tangle in the semifinal round.

No. 2 Cortland and third-seeded Brockport play in the other semifinal game. The winners of the semifinal games advance to the SUNYAC championship game on Saturday, Nov. 9. Fans can follow all the action Wednesday afternoon via live stats and live video provided by Oneonta at the links below.

In the previous two postseason meetings, Plattsburgh State and Oneonta have one win apiece. Earlier this season, the Red Dragons claimed a 2-1 double-overtime win on their home field.  Wednesday's match features two of the top three scoring teams. Oneonta's 43 goals lead the conference while Plattsburgh State is third with 41 tallies.

No. 4 PLATTSBURGH STATE

In the quarterfinal win against Buffalo State, freshman Alexis Archilla scored both second-half goals for Plattsburgh State. Archilla's nine goals and 21 points are both team highs for a Cardinal squad that averages 2.1 goals per game. Archilla also earned SUNYAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for his two-goal performance.

Plattsburgh State counters its strong offense with a defense that allows just under one goal per game (0.95). Anchored by Wade Goehle, Nick Economou and Clay Sherman, the Cardinals held the Bengals to only three shots on target.

Sophomore goalkeeper Mitchell Jordon stopped two shots in the victory. This season, Jordon has occupied the majority of time in net, playing more than 75 percent of the total minutes while posting nine wins and a 0.99 goals-against average. Jordon (Defensive Player of the Week) became the second Cardinal this past week to receive conference recognition from quarterfinal play.

No. 1 ONEONTA

The Red Dragons enter the semifinal round after receiving a first-round bye. Oneonta has won the last two conference championships, including a title game victory against Plattsburgh State in last year's playoffs. Wednesday is also the sixth time this season that Oneonta has hosted a conference opponent, and the Red Dragons are 3-0-2 in the previous meetings.

Sophomore midfielder Dylan Williams sits second in the conference with 10 goals and 23 points. The Red Dragons sport four other players who are double digits in points. One of those players is Zef Saljanin (seven goals, 16 points), who scored the double-overtime game-winner against Plattsburgh State, Oct. 11. Vincent Pellegrino and Daniel DeBottis have shared time in net, with DeBottis playing the regular-season finale. Pellegrino collected a three-save shutout the previous match. As a team, the Red Dragons allow only 0.72 goals per game.
