SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team plated four runs in the eighth-inning to get a 6-4 win against Skidmore College in a non-conference game Tuesday.

Skidmore (23-4) scored twice in the third inning off Plattsburgh (19-15) starter Kyle Kelly. The Cardinals got their first run on the board in the fifth when Damian Tyler doubled down the left field line to score Pedro Gonzalez.

Plattsburgh tied it 2-2 in the sixth when Chris Pescetti opened the inning with a single, advanced to third on a Mike Mulvihill double and then scored on a fielder's choice. In the bottom half of the inning, Skidmore regained the lead on an RBI triple by Matty Tatkow.

The Cardinals then sent 10 batters to the plate in the eighth, scoring four runs on six singles and a hit batter. Kris Cauchon got the rally going with a lead-off single to center field, advanced to second on a wild pitch, moved to third on a bunt and scored on a single by Pescetti. Casey Brighton added a two-run single later in the inning before Gonzalez picked up an RBI single to give Plattsburgh a 6-3 lead.

The Thoroughbreds got one back in the bottom of the eighth on an RBI single from Geoff Green, for the 6-4 final.

Cauchon and Gonzalez were 2-for-4, while Pescetti went 2-for-5 for the Cardinals. Green and Tatkow each finished the day with a pair of hits for Skidmore.

Kyle Kelly improved to 4-2 on the year, allowing three runs on five hits through seven innings. Steven Corea gave up one run and worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth to earn his fourth save for Plattsburgh.
