Lacrosse Turns Back Morrisville with 14-6 Win

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.
– Kyle Norchi tallied six points to lead the Cardinal offense as the Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse team rolled to a 14-6 win over the Morrisville State Mustangs in a non-conference game at the Field House Lacrosse Complex.

Six different Cardinals netted goals in the first half to give the Cardinals a 6-0 after 30 minutes.  

Norchi scored three goals in the second half, pushing his season total to 36.  He finished the night with four goals and two helpers.  

Pete Morgan, Brett McClelland and Joey Kramer each scored two goals apiece.  Morgan added two assists for the Cardinals, while Nick Travers added four points with a goal and three assists.

The Cardinals dominated in shots with a 69-20 advantage, including a 36-7 margin in the first half.  Plattsburgh also picked up 34 groundballs to Morrisville’s 20.  The Cardinals won 17 of 23 faceoffs and went 2-for-7 on extra-man opportunities.

Offensively for the Mustangs, Thomas Owens, Dean Priest and Andrew Stein each recorded two points.

Danny Caufield made seven saves for Plattsburgh to earn his eighth win of the season.  Gordie Gehring stepped in for the final 4:17 but did not record a save.  Morrisville State’s Michael Hinchey recorded 14 stops in the loss.

Plattsburgh improves to 8-2 with the win.  Morrisville drops to 5-2 on the year.

The Cardinals wore special pink and blue jerseys for tonight’s game to raise awareness for breast and prostate cancer.  The team conducted raffles and accepted donations at the event with all proceeds to benefit the CVPH Fitzpatrick Cancer Center.

Plattsburgh returns to conference play next week when they host SUNY Potsdam on Wednesday, April 13 at 4 p.m. at the Field House Lacrosse Complex.
