BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse team had a 3-2 lead after the first quarter, but Brockport scored four straight goals to take a lead they would not relinquish as the Golden Eagles upset the Cardinals, 11-10, in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action.
Kyle Norchi powered the Plattsburgh offense with five goals and an assist. Sophomore midfielder Nick Travers scored two goals and Tim Lawrence added three assists for the Cardinals.
The Golden Eagles were led by Brendon Rothfuss with four goals and Any Hilton with three goals and an assist.
The Cardinals outshot Brockport, 53-38. The Golden Eagles held the edge in ground balls with 42, while Plattsburgh scooped up 33. Plattsburgh won 13 of 25 faceoffs.
Danny Caufield, who falls to 9-3 on the year, recorded 14 saves in the loss.
Brockport goalie Jon Fiorillo had a strong performance in net, making 23 stops for the Golden Eagles.
Plattsburgh falls to 9-3 on the season and 2-1 in the conference. Brockport improves to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in SUNYAC play.
The Cardinals will look to rebound on Wednesday, April 20 as they travel to Williams College for a non-conference matchup. Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
