Norchi Tallies Seven Points in Cardinals' 19-9 Win

Kyle Norchi registered four goals and three assists in Plattsburgh's 19-9 victory
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Tim Lawrence scored six goals and Kyle Norchi tallied seven points to left the Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse team to a 19-9 win over Birmingham-Southern College on Monday.  The Cardinals improve to 2-1, while the Panthers fall to 1-4.
    The two teams were knotted at 3-3 after the first quarter but the Cardinals took an 8-5 lead into halftime.  Plattsburgh stretched its lead to 14-8 after the third quarter before scoring five more goals in the final 15 minutes.
    Norchi led the offense, scoring four goals and adding three assists.  Eight different midfielders registered a point for the Cardinals.  Pete Morgan netted three goals and assisted on two others.  Tommy Kilderry added two goals and an assist.  
    Birmingham-Southern was led by sophomore Matt Ivie who scored six of the Panthers’ nine goals.
    Danny Caufield earned his second win in net for the Cardinals with 17 saves.  Gordie Gehring was not tested in the final three minutes in the Plattsburgh goal.
    The Cardinals return to action on Wednesday, Mar. 16 against Guilford College at 4 p.m. in Greensboro, S.C.
