BUFFALO, N.Y. – Emily LaLone gave the Plattsburgh State women’s soccer team all the offense they would need en route to a 1-0 win over Buffalo State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) contest at Coyer Field Saturday afternoon.
LaLone put Plattsburgh on the board in the 36
th minute with an unassisted goal off a direct kick from 18 yards out.
The Cardinals (6-4-3, 4-2-1 SUNYAC) outshot the Bengals, 13-11. Kristie Pageau led Plattsburgh with five shots, three of which were on goal. Buffalo State (6-8-1, 1-5-1 SUNYAC) finished the day with a 2-1 advantage in corners.
Plattsburgh goalkeeper Monica D’Ippolito made four saves in her first shutout of the season. Buffalo State goalie Virginia Porten recorded six saves in the loss.
The Cardinals return home next weekend for SUNYAC games against Geneseo and Brockport. Game times are Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 1 p.m., respectively.
