BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Kayla Rabideau scored her team-leading fifth goal in the final minute of play as Plattsburgh State topped Brockport 2-1 in its State University of New York Athletic Conference opener. The Cardinals improve to 6-1 on the season, while the Golden Eagles fall to 4-4 (0-2 SUNYAC).
Rabideau’s game-winning goal at 89:07 came on a volley off a cross from Plattsburgh junior Lindsey Keyser.
The Cardinals struck first in the 43rd minute as Keyser chipped the ball over the head of Brockport keeper Erin Asquith. Lauren Gonyea picked up an assist on the goal.
Brockport retaliated at 70:04 with an unassisted goal by Sarah Lawson, her fifth of the year.
Greiser stopped 13 shots for the Cardinals en route to her sixth win. Asquith picked up eight saves in the Brockport loss. The Golden Eagles held the advantage in shots, 20-14, and corner kicks, 6-1.
Plattsburgh continues conference play Saturday, September 25 at 1 p.m. against the Geneseo Blue Knights.
