Academic All-ECAC West Team is Announced

School-record nine Cardinals are named

Plattsburgh earns the second-most selections
CAPE COD, Mass.--A school-record nine student-athletes from the Plattsburgh State women's hockey team have been named to the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division All-Academic Team. ECAC Commissioner Rudy Keeling made that announcement on Tuesday.

The Cardinals--whose previous single-season high of seven was set last year--had the second-most selections behind Utica's 10.

The Plattsburgh representatives include:  Kara Buehler, Jr. (Skaneateles, N.Y.); Laurie Bowler, Sr. (Brantford, Ontario); Megan DiJulio, Jr. (Slave Lake, Alberta); Helen Giroux, Jr. (Chazy, N.Y.); Mackenzie Lee, So. (Rochester, N.Y.); Britt McKegg, So. (St. Thomas, Ontario); Stephanie Moberg, Sr. (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.); Steph Moon, Jr. (Allison Park, Pa.); and Danielle Roberts, So. (St. Albans, Vt.).

In addition, Buehler and Moon have been nominated for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team, presented by the College Sports Information Directors of America, which recognizes excellence in academics, the field of competition and community service.

This marks the ninth year that the conference has named an all-academic team. A total of 64 student-athletes representing 10 teams earned this honor based on outstanding performance in the classroom.
To be named to the all-academic team, the student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year at the institution, a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.00 scale), and competed in at least half of her team’s contests during the current season (a goaltender must have played at least 33 percent of her team’s minutes).
