FREDONIA, N.Y.- Danielle Roberts of Plattsburgh State has earned the State University of New York Athletic Conference Winter Chancellor's Scholar-Athlete Award in the sport of women's ice hockey, the SUNYAC announced on Friday. Roberts is the first Cardinal to receive the award since Bree Doyle was honored during the 2006-07 academic year.
To be eligible, a student-athlete from each sport must have at least three semesters completed and have the highest grade-point average of at least 3.3 or better.
Roberts, a sophomore defenseman out of St. Albans, Vt., has compiled a 3.60 overall GPA as a business major. The academic all-conference candidate helped the Cardinals this season become the best defensive unit in the Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division with a league-low 40 goals allowed and rank fifth in NCAA Division III scoring defense with a 1.43 average.
