Cardinals Win No. 200 in Program History

Plattsburgh Defeats No. 9 Manhattanville, 4-0

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Stephanie Moberg scored twice as the top-ranked Plattsburgh State women's hockey team blanked No. 9 Manhattanville 4-0 on Saturday in a non-conference game at the Stafford Ice Arena. The Cardinals reached the 200-win milestone and have an all-time record of 200-34-13 since the program was founded for the 2001-02 season.  Plattsburgh moves to 18-1-2 on the season while the Valiants drop to 16-5-1.  BOXSCORE

Manhattanville applied offensive pressure with several good scoring opportunities in the opening minutes, including two shots by Shannon Coffey on back-to-back tries, but Second Star of the Game Mandy Mackrell was stellar in the Plattsburgh goal. Mackrell finished with 23 saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season.

A few minutes later, Plattsburgh scored its first goal at the 6:15 mark. Brittany Meade intercepted a cross-ice pass at her blueline, skated down the right boards and fed a beautiful centering pass to Moberg who joined in on the 2-on-1 rush. Moberg added her 17th goal of the season 1 minute and 38 seconds into the second period while Plattsburgh was working on the power play. Megan DiJulio won the face-off to Erika Shaubel on the right-point, who passed the puck to Moberg on the left and then she blasted a slap shot.

Laurie Bowler made it 3-0 later in the second and Jordan Caldwell wrapped up the scoring late in the third period.

Plattsburgh had a 37 to 23 shots on goal advantage.

Emy Cote tried to keep the Valiants in the game by making 33 saves.
