Cardinals Complete Sweep of RIT behind Bowler Hat-Trick

Senior Co-Captain Stays Hot

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Less than 24 hours getting her 100th point, senior co-captain Laurie Bowler followed up that performance on Saturday afternoon with three goals to propel nationally No. 3-ranked Plattsburgh State to a 5-2 victory against Rochester Tech in an Eastern College Athletic Conference West Division women's hockey game at the Stafford Ice Arena, completing a weekend sweep of the fourth-rated Tigers. The Cardinals move to 12-1-1 overall, including 10-0-1 in the ECAC West standings, while RIT loses back-to-back games for the first time in two seasons in falling to 10-4-3 and 5-3-2.  BOXSCORE

Plattsburgh took a 1-0 lead midway through the first despite getting outshot 14 to 5 in the period, with Kristen Bond feeding Bowler for her first goal of the game.

Bowler and Megan DiJulio made it 3-0 in the second period before RIT got on the scoreboard with an unassisted goal from Katie Stack just 6 seconds left.

In the third period, the teams traded unassisted tallies by Megan Kobar and Bowler before Plattsburgh's Brittany Meade had an empty-net goal on an assist by Kate Fairfield to close the scoring at the 19:37 mark.

RIT outshot Plattsburgh 32-25 for the game and both teams went 1-for-8 on the power play.

Mandy Mackrell, who had a career- and Plattsburgh season-high 32 saves on Friday, stopped 30 shots in this contest.
