PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – Plattsburgh State junior
Bailee Lafountain (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) was named the Spry State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Offensive Athlete of the Week for women's soccer, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. This is the team's first weekly honor of the season.
LaFountain helped lead the Cardinals to an undefeated opening week, recording four goals and an assist across three matches. LaFountain opened the week in dominant fashion, scoring a hat trick in Plattsburgh State's 4-1 victory over VTSU-Castleton. She followed that performance by scoring the game-winning goal in the Cardinals' 2-0 win over Farmingdale State, bringing her weekly goal total to four. LaFountain capped the week with an assist in Plattsburgh State's 1-1 draw against a tough Stevens side that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season. Her five-point week played a key role in helping the Cardinals begin the season unbeaten.
