PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation has announced the hiring of AJ Desarro to the Cardinals' baseball coaching staff as an assistant coach ahead of the 2027 season.

Desarro joins Plattsburgh State after serving as a graduate assistant baseball coach at Albertus Magnus College. During his time with the Falcons, he assisted with coaching, recruiting, player development and the day-to-day administration of the Division III baseball program.

"AJ brings valuable Division III experience from his time at Albertus Magnus, and we're excited to have him on board. He will be a great addition to our coaching staff, and we look forward to the impact he will have on our program." said head baseball coach Sam Quinn-Loeb. 

In addition to his work at Albertus Magnus, Desarro served as an assistant coach for the Winchester Royals of the Valley Baseball League, where he worked primarily with hitters and catchers while assisting with recruiting, player development and daily team operations.

Prior to his collegiate coaching experience, Desarro spent three seasons as an assistant coach with Connecticut Capitals Baseball, a competitive travel program for high school-aged players. 

A native of Longmeadow, Mass., Desarro played collegiate baseball at New England College. He earned a bachelor's degree in sport and recreation management from New England College before earning a master's degree in management and organizational leadership from Albertus Magnus College.

Desarro will begin his duties immediately as he joins the Cardinals' coaching staff for the upcoming season.
