2026 Schedule

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team opens its 2026 outdoor season on Saturday, Apr. 4, at the Saint Ice Breaker and the Amherst Spring Fling. Director of Cross Country and Track and Field Nathan Petesch and Associate Head Coaches Andrew Krug and Brett Willmott aim to lead the women's team to an improved finish at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships following last year's fifth-place result.

Coach Insights

"The team showed a lot of growth throughout the indoor season. The SUNYAC Championship meet was a highlight, as the athletes brought great energy and support", said Petesch. "The team also just flat out competed, and that's the kind of program we want to be - rising to be our best in the biggest moments. A key for the outdoor season will be to maintain the momentum they earned during indoor and to keep focused, as we still have a ways to go before championship time. I think we found that to be at a different level, you have to believe at a different level, and I'm excited about the group continuing to elevate during the outdoor season."

Team Outlook

The Cardinals return a deep and experienced roster that includes several SUNYAC champions and an All-Region performer. Leading the group is the 4x400-meter relay SUNYAC championship squad of sophomores Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y. / Spencerport), Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane), and Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna), along with senior Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon).

Event Breakdown

Distance:

Senior Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) leads a strong distance group after a second-place finish in the 5,000-meter run, earning All-SUNYAC Second Team honors last season. Also returning are senior Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus), junior Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa), and sophomore Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y. / Franklin Academy), who were all part of the second-place distance medley relay team at the SUNYAC Indoor championships and will look to carry that success into the outdoor season.

They are joined by sophomores Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem), Lexie Rostak (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown), and Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville), along with junior Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. / Colonie Central).

The Cardinals also welcome graduate student Nora Graves (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh), who joins the lineup following her first indoor season with the team.

Hurdles:

The hurdles group is led by rising talent Scott, who won the 400-meter hurdles at last year's outdoor conference championships, along with senior Mikayla Khadijah (Cairo, N.Y. / Cairo-Durham), who provides veteran leadership and experience. During the indoor season, Scott competed in the 60-meter hurdles, breaking the program record with a time of 9.20 seconds, and is poised to carry that momentum into the outdoor campaign.

Sophomore Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) rounds out the returners. She is joined by first-years Addison Burt (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool), Jocelyn Harrington (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls), Jaelynn Lacey (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh), and Kaitlyn MacDougall (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda-Fultonville), who will look to make an impact after gaining their first collegiate experience during the indoor season.

Jumps:

The jumps crew will feature several new faces, highlighted by junior Deja Davis (Bronx, N.Y. / Paul Robeson), who will compete as a jumper this year. She is joined by first-years Chloe Elliott (Bronx, N.Y. / Belmont Preparatory) and Madalyn Wynnik (Dannemora, N.Y. / Saranac).

First-years Harrington and Lacey will also split time with the jumpers while competing in the hurdles.

Multis:

Senior Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y. / Saranac) has been a consistent scorer for the Cardinals throughout her career and will again be a key contributor across multiple events this season. LeDuc has previously earned All-Region honors in the heptathlon and will look to return to that form and add points for the Cardinals.

First-year Arianna Schuman (Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem East) adds depth to the multi-events group.

Sprints:

The sprints unit is led by several key contributors who have already made their mark on the conference stage, including 400-meter SUNYAC Champion Yarkosky and the 4x400-meter relay SUNYAC championship squad of Mahoney, Scott, Wise, and Yarkosky.

The relay squad of Mahoney, Scott, Wise, and Yarkosky holds the program record in the indoor 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:57.73 and has now won three straight 4x400-meter relay championships across indoor and outdoor competition. The team will look to make it four in a row this season.

Yarkosky won an individual medal in the 400-meter dash, placing first and earning First Team All-SUNYAC honors, while also receiving USTFCCCA Mideast All-Region recognition during last year's outdoor campaign. She comes off her best indoor season, winning the SUNYAC Championship in the 400-meter dash, helping the 4x400-meter relay squad claim the conference title, taking first in the 400-meter dash at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships, and capping her season with a second-place finish at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships, earning All-America Second Team honors. Following her standout indoor campaign, Yarkosky enters the outdoor season with momentum and aims to repeat as conference champion and go even further.

Also returning to the sprint lineup is sophomore Anni Schneider (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker).

First-years Margot Danziger (Bethlehem, N.Y / Bethlehem Central), Alexa Markowicz (Peru, N.Y. / Peru Central), and Iysis Romani (Bronx, N.Y. / The College Academy) add promising depth to this already competitive group.

Davis, Elliot, and Wynnick will divide their time between sprinting and jumping events.

Throws:

The throws group returns junior Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash. / Coupeville), who gained valuable championship experience last season. She will be joined by first-year Elise Lendrum (Westerlo, N.Y. / Berne Knox Westerlo), who looks to bolster the team's scoring potential in the throwing events.

With a mix of depth, proven experience, and emerging talent, the Cardinals enter the 2026 season well-positioned to contend for a SUNYAC Outdoor Championship.
