SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior defender Kevin Murray (Bellmore, N.Y. / Kellenberg Memorial) of the Plattsburgh State men's lacrosse team has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Defensive Athlete of the Week for the period ending Mar. 22 as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. This is Murray's first time winning the weekly.

Murray played a key role in the Cardinals' defensive effort in their 20-10 victory over New England College. The senior defender recorded three ground balls while causing a career- and game-high five turnovers, consistently disrupting the Pilgrims' offensive rhythm. Murray also showed strong composure with possession, committing just two turnovers, and was instrumental in helping the Cardinals control the defensive end while contributing to a 20-for-23 effort on clears.

Plattsburgh State is currently 5-2 and returns to action Saturday, Mar. 28, hosting New Paltz for a 3 p.m. faceoff in their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) opener.
