Yarkosky Posts AARTFC Mark in the 400-Meter Dash as Women's Track & Field Competes at Utica

UTICA, N.Y. – Senior Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon) earned a first-place finish and an All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifying time in the 400-meter dash invite as the Plattsburgh State women's track and field team competed at the Blue and Orange Invitational & Multi on Saturday afternoon. Yarksoky finished with a time of 58.27 seconds.

Sophomores Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) and Anni Schneider (Latham, N.Y. / Shaker) competed in the 200-meter dash open. McDonald finished in 27.53 seconds for fourth place, and Schneider came in at 29.71 seconds as both notched new personal bests.

Sophomore Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna) competed alongside Yarkosky in the 400-meter dash invite, placing 11th in 1:02.90. In the 400-meter dash open, first-year Alexa Markowicz (Peru, N.Y.) placed sixth with a time of 1:07.84.

In the distance events, senior Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) paced the Cardinals in the 800-meter run with a personal best time of 2:34.26, finishing in 18th.

Junior Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) competed in the one-mile run and was the top finisher for the Cardinals, placing 17th in 5:36.03.

The 4x400-meter relay team of Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y. / Spencerport), Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane), Wise, and Yarkosky earned a second-place finish and set an AARTFC qualifying mark, clocking in at 4:04.45.  

In the field events, the Cardinals turned in some strong performances in the high jump open, led by first-year Jaelynn Lacey (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh). Lacey cleared 1.49 meters for fourth place, followed by first-year Chloe Elliott (Bronx, N.Y. / Belmont Preparatory), who cleared 1.43 meters, finishing in ninth, as both recorded personal bests.

First-year Jocelyn Harrington (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) recorded a personal-best jump of 9.64 meters in the triple jump. Senior Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y. / Saranac) had the best outing for the Cardinals in the long jump with a jump of 5.34 meters.

Junior Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash. / Coupeville) had the best outing for the Cardinals in the weight throw, with a throw of 12.08 meters.

The Cardinals will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 10, when they host their lone home meet at the Plattsburgh State Field House at 4 p.m.
