CANTON, N.Y. – Sophomore Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane) broke the indoor program record in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 9.50 seconds, an All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) mark, as the Plattsburgh State women's track and field team placed third with 141 points at the SLU Open.
Sophomore Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) earned a fourth-place finish in the 60-meter dash, crossing in 8.11 seconds, a new personal best, to score five points for the Cardinals. McDonald also scored in the 60-meter hurdles, placing fifth with a personal best time of 9.79 seconds for four points. First-year Addison Burt (Liverpool, N.Y.) recorded her best time in the event, with a mark of 10.51 seconds in the preliminaries.
In the 200-meter dash, sophomore Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna) led the way with a runner-up finish in 27.44 seconds, earning eight points and recording a personal best. McDonald followed closely in third at 27.49 seconds, adding six more points. First-years Kaitlyn MacDougall (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda-Fultonville), Alexa Markowicz (Peru, N.Y.), and Margot Danziger (Bethlehem, N.Y / Bethlehem Central) recorded personal-best times of 29.28, 29.69, and 30.71 seconds, respectively.
MacDougall and Markowicz both scored in the 400-meter dash, placing fourth and fifth, respectively. MacDougall clocked a personal best time of 1:06.11 to earn five points, while Markowicz finished in 1:06.24 for four points and a new personal best.
The Cardinals dominated the 800-meter run, going one-two. Mahoney captured the win in 2:30.31 to score ten points, while senior Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) placed second in 2:32.48 to add eight points.
In the mile, junior Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) earned ten points with a first-place finish in 5:25.38, a personal best. Sophomore Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y. / Franklin Academy) added six points with a third-place finish in 5:31.09. Both Estus's and LeRoy's times were new personal bests.
Senior Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) led a strong showing in the 5,000-meter run, winning the event in 19:55.88 to secure ten points. Sophomore Lexie Rostak (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) placed second (21:02.39) for eight points, while Sophomore Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville) finished third (21:17.61) to contribute six points.
In the field events, first-year Jaelynn Lacey (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) cleared 1.45 meters in the high jump to place third and earn six points. First-year Chloe Elliott (Bronx, N.Y. / Belmont Preparatory) followed with a fourth-place finish (1.40m) to score five points, while Scott added three more points with a sixth-place clearance of 1.20 meters.
Senior Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y. / Saranac) claimed first place in the long jump with a leap of 4.93 meters, earning ten points. Scott placed second at 4.87 meters, a personal best, to add eight points.
First-year Jocelyn Harrington (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) contributed three points in the triple jump with a seventh-place finish and a mark of 9.56 meters.
In the throwing events, LeDuc added three points in the shot put with a sixth-place throw of 9.75 meters. Taygin Jump delivered a strong performance in the weight throw, finishing fourth with a mark of 13.64 meters to score five points.
The Cardinals return to action at the SUNYAC Championships on Friday, Feb. 27, and Saturday, Feb. 28, hosted by SUNY Brockport. Only athletes who have met the qualifying standards will travel to compete.
