Women’s Track and Field Places Third at St. Lawrence Invitational

CANTON, N.Y – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team placed third at the St. Lawrence Invitational, earning 114 points.

Plattsburgh was represented in the 60-meter dash by Deja Davis (Bronx, N.Y. / Paul Robeson), who placed eighth with a time of 8.70 seconds, earning one point for the Cardinals. In the 60-meter hurdles, Lexi McDonald (Altona, N.Y. / Northern Adirondack) finished first with a time of 10.16, earning ten points. Mikayla Khadijah (Cairo, N.Y. / Cairo-Durham) was fourth with a time of 10.71, earning five points, and Addison Burt (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) was fifth with a time of 10.88, earning four points.

McDonald led the way for Plattsburgh in the 200-meter dash with a third-place finish, clocking a personal best time of 27.86 seconds to earn six points.

The Cardinals had strong performances in the 300-meter dash, led by Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich. / South Lyon), who finished first with a time of 41.49 seconds. Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y. / Niskayuna) followed in second place at 44.62 seconds, while Alexa Markowicz (Peru, N.Y. / Peru Central) took third in 46.96 seconds. Kaitlyn MacDougall (Fonda, N.Y. / Fonda-Fultonville) rounded out the Cardinal finishes with a fourth-place time of 47.69 seconds.

Plattsburgh had three athletes score in the 800-meter run. Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) led the Cardinals with a fourth-place finish in 2:36.99, earning five points. Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. / Colonie Central) followed closely in fifth at 2:39.00, adding four points, while senior Nora Graves (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) finished sixth in 2:52.16, contributing three points to the team total. In the one-mile run, Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) finished sixth in 5:46.58, earning three points, while Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem) placed eighth in 6:44.91, contributing two points.

Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y. / Franklin Academy) led the 3,000-meter group with eight points, finishing in second place with a personal best time of 11:08.20. She was followed by Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville), who earned two points and finished seventh with a time of 12:02.80, also a personal best. Lexie Rostak (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) rounded out the scoring for Plattsburgh, earning one point and finishing eighth with a time of 12:17.66.

The Plattsburgh State 4x400-meter relay team of MacDougall, Markowicz, Wise, and Yarkosky placed second, finishing in 4:15.07 for eight points.

The Cardinals had a strong showing in the long jump, led by Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y. / Saranac), who took first place with a jump of 4.83 meters to earn ten points. In the triple jump, Jocelyn Harrington (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) recorded a personal best jump of 9.59 meters for sixth place, earning three points.

In the high jump, Jaelynn Lacey (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) claimed second place with a jump of 1.45 meters and earned eight points, while Chloe Elliott (Bronx, N.Y. / Belmont Preparatory) finished fifth with a jump of 1.35 meters and earned four points.

The throwing events saw LeDuc take third place in the shot put with a throw of 9.77 meters, earning six points. Elise Lendrum (Westerlo, N.Y. / Berne Knox Westerlo) placed seventh with a throw of 8.95 meters for two points.  Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash. / Coupeville) scored for the Cardinals in the weight throw with a throw of 12.93 meters, placing second and earning eight points.

Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y. / Ichabod Crane) was busy for the Cardinals as she competed in the pentathlon, placing second overall, earning eight points. Scott's second-place performance was highlighted by a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, posting a time of 9.64 seconds. Madalyn Wynnik tied for fifth overall in the pentathlon, highlighted by fourth-place finishes in the high jump and long jump. In the high jump, she cleared 1.30 meters, and in the long jump, she jumped 4.67 meters.

The Cardinals are next in action on Saturday, Jan. 31, when they travel to Ithaca to compete in the Bomber Invitational.
