CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team had a chance to preview the Mideast Region course at St. Lawrence in the Hoffmann Invitational, where the team placed fifth with 164 points.
In the team standings, the Cardinals finished ahead of sixth-place Norwich (176 pts), seventh-place University of Ottawa (189 pts), eighth-place Clarkson (198 pts), and ninth-place Canton (291 pts). Middlebury took home first place with 27 points, followed by Queen's University in second (30 pts), host St. Lawrence in third (80 pts), and Le Moyne in fourth (131 pts).
Sophomore
Ellie LeRoy (Malone, N.Y. / Franklin Academy) was the Cardinal's top finisher, recording a time of 25:40.7 (56th) in her first collegiate 6K race. Right behind her was senior
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y. / South Glens Falls) with a mark of 25:40.8 (57th).
The next Cardinals to cross the line were juniors
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y. / Colonie Central) and
Grace Estus (Clifton Park, N.Y. / Shenendehowa) with times of 26:05.7 (64th) and 26:06.0 (65th), respectively. Senior
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y. / Marcellus) rounded out the scoring group with a mark of 27:12.0 (74th), while sophomore
Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y. / Waterville) also came in at 27:12.0 for 75th place and a new course-best on the Ronald C. Hoffmann Cross Country Course.
Sophomore
Isabelle Cunningham (Bethlehem, N.Y. / Bethlehem) concluded the top seven runners, finishing at 27:40.5 for 83rd place.
Other performers to note include sophomore
Jillian Head (Sloatsburg, N.Y. / Suffern), junior
Julia Robinson (Chester Springs, Pa. / Downingtown East), and senior
Kailyn Ginter (Northville, N.Y. / Northville), who all recorded new course-bests. Head posted a time of 29:23.0 (87th), Robinson came in at 30:25.3 (98th), and Ginter recorded a time of 31:00.5 (101st).
First-year
Hailey Bogdanowicz-Wilson (Schenectady, N.Y. / Schenectady) ran her first collegiate 6K race with a time of 32:23.9.
The Cardinals are back in action in two weeks when the team travels to Keene, N.H., for the Keene State Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 4.
