Box Score NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team got back in the win column on Wednesday evening, earning a 2-0 road victory over Norwich University in non-conference action, their first meeting with the Cadets since 2014.
Looking to snap a two-game skid ahead of conference play this weekend, the Cardinals wasted no time finding the back of the net. Senior defender Alexis Patrick (Burnt Hills, N.Y./Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) opened the scoring in the 10th minute with her first goal of the season. Just four minutes later, sophomore Bailee Lafountain (Mooers Forks, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton), making her first start of the year, doubled the lead with her first tally of 2025, putting Plattsburgh up 2-0.
The Cardinals carried their advantage into halftime and continued to dictate play in the second half, finishing the match with a commanding 19-3 shot advantage. Norwich's back line held strong to keep the scoreline close, but Plattsburgh's early brace stood as the difference.
Between the posts, sophomore Desiree DuBois (Champlain, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton Central) made her first career start and combined with junior Brook Lynn DaSilva (Smithtown, N.Y./Smithtown West) to record the clean sheet. Defensively, the new center back duo of sophomore Amy Crowley (Wallkill, N.Y./Wallkill) and first-year Mariah Nowicki (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) anchored the back line in preserving the shutout.
With the win, Plattsburgh improves to 3-4 overall and now turns its attention to SUNYAC play. The Cardinals open their conference slate at home on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Fredonia at the Field House Complex.
