MEET RESULTS
CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's track & field team competed at St. Lawrence on Friday evening for their Twilight Invite, as the team readies for the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships set for next weekend. The team finished in second place with 179 points, behind only the host St. Lawrence Saints.
The day began for the Cards with a win in the 4x100-meter relay as the team of junior
Julius James (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes), sophomore
Ryan Beltran (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes), junior
Charles Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall), and junior
Jordan Williams (Bronx, N.Y./Cardinal Hayes) posted a time of 43.55 seconds.
Beltran followed that with a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash, posting a time of 51.11 seconds. Cypress earned a second-place finish in the 100-meter final, posting a time of 11.03 seconds. Williams was close behind with a time of 11.14 seconds for third place and later won the 200-meter final with a new personal record (PR) of 22.44 seconds.
Senior
Justin Kumrow (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) placed second in the 800-meter run, recording a time of 1:59.81. In the 400-meter hurdles, first-year
Joshua Gaboriault (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) won the event with a new personal best time of 1:00.41. Gaboriault was also a part of the 4x400-meter team that placed first, as first-year
Jack Gregory (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland), Gaboriault, first-year
Ethan Cypress (New Windsor, N.Y./Cornwall), and
Charles Cypress posted a mark of 3:27.22.
In the field events, sophomore
Isaiah Ritter (Peekskill, N.Y./Peekskill) joined many of his Cardinal teammates with a second-place finish in the long jump, as his 6.32-meter jump was the second-best leap of the day. Senior
De'Andre Watson (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) also earned a top-three finish, posting a 12.03-meter jump for third place in the triple jump on Friday night.
First-years
Drew Duncan (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown Heights) and
Zach Stevens (Queensbury, N.Y./Glens Falls) each won events, as the first-years looked to finish the Spring strong. Duncan won the high jump, clearing 1.85 meters on his first attempt, and Stevens posted a new personal best throw of 38.28 meters in the hammer throw, as he secured the event win on Friday.
In the shotput, junior
Faris Webber (Arlington, Va./Washington Liberty) was second with his toss of 10.95 meters, while first-year
Manny Olivier was third with a new PR of 10.88 meters. Olivier also PRed with a third-place finish in the discus throw with a 34.03-meter throw and had a new PR in the hammer throw. Webber also posted a third-place finish in the javelin throw, notching a new personal best throw of 46.36 meters with his final throw of the day.
The Cardinals next compete beginning on Friday, May 2, when they travel to Cortland for Day One of the SUNYAC Championships.
