LAKE PLACID, N.Y. — Plattsburgh State Athletics Strength and Conditioning Coach & Associate Head Track and Field Coach Brett Willmott recently spoke in Lake Placid, New York, at the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) State/Provincial and Regional Events New York State Clinic. The clinic was held on Saturday, April 12, at the Lake Placid Olympic and Paralympic Training Center.
Willmott presented for over an hour and delivered a session about "Acceleration/Speed Training for All Sports", as his talk focused on how methods of training improve speed and acceleration across a wide range of athletic disciplines. Attendees received practical drills as well as coaching understanding from Willmott and the other speakers. Willmott's session was designed to help athletes at all levels improve their sprinting ability, along with explosiveness, and fundamental skills that are critical to success within every sport.
A 1995 SUNY Plattsburgh alumnus with more than 25 years of prior coaching experience, Willmott is in his fourth year at Plattsburgh State. At his alma mater, he presently serves in the role of associate head track and field coach and head strength and conditioning coach.
