ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team traveled to Rochester, New York for the DIII Elite Meet at Nazareth College on Friday, competing in the first day of the two-day event.
The Cardinals saw an All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) qualifying time from
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls), as she competed in the 5,000-meter run and posted a time of 18:48.54.
Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) had a great day as well for Plattsburgh, finishing 13
th in the 60-meter hurdles prelims, posting a 9.88 second time, as well as setting a new personal best in the long jump with a mark of 5.20 meters. The new career best jump gave LeDuc a fifth-place finish.
Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash./Coupeville),
Tessy Huntley (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus), and
Harmony Sanders (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo) each competed in the weight throw on Friday, with Jump posting the best mark of the three with a 12.11-meter throw for 33
rd place. Huntley's top mark was 11.73 meters, while Sanders' best throw of the day was 11.05 meters.
The 4x400-meter relay team of
Brianna Wise (Niskayuna, N.Y./Niskayuna),
Isabella Scott (Valatie, N.Y./Ichabod Crane),
Emma Mahoney (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport), and
Grace Yarkosky (South Lyone, Mich./SouthLYone) finished fourth with their time of 4:12.55, just off the AARTFC mark of 4:10.00.
The Cards will be back in action tomorrow, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. as they compete in Day Two of the DIII Elite Meet.
