LeDuc Posts Three Top-Three Finishes as Women's Track & Field Competes at the Saints Holiday Relays

MEET RESULTS

CANTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team began their 2024-25 indoor season at St. Lawrence in the Newell Field House on Saturday, finishing in second place amongst six total team competing. Junior Marissa LeDuc (Saranac, N.Y./Saranac) led the way for the team in the Saints Holiday Relays, as she picked up three top-three finishes, including posting the top mark in the long jump.

LeDuc took home the top spot in the long jump with a jump of 4.86 meters, also posting a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a career best mark of 10.14 seconds. The junior also had a career best jump in the high jump, clearing 1.50 meters, taking third place in the event.

The Cardinals finished in second, posting 112 points behind only St. Lawrence who had 174.50 points. Ottawa University finished third, Carleton fourth, Ottawa Lions TF Club fifth, and Potsdam was sixth.

Taygin Jump (Coupeville, Wash./Coupeville) led a strong group of throwers on Saturday, finishing first in the weight throw with a toss of 12.58 meters. First-year Tessy Huntley (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) finished third in the same event with her throw of 10.88 meters, while another first-year thrower, Harmony Sanders (Geneseo, N.Y./Geneseo), was third in the shotput.

Junior Grace Yarkosky (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) finished second in the 600-meter run as she made her indoor debut with a time of 1:40.36. First-year Ella Stuttard (Oriskany Falls, N.Y./Waterville) finished third in the 3,000-meter run, posting a time of 12:03.09 in her first collegiate track and field meet.

The 4x200-meter team of Alexis McDonald (Altona, N.Y./Northern Adirondack), Smytha Persaud (Suffern, N.Y./Suffern), Deja Davis (Bronx, N.Y./Paul Robeson), and Shyloh Caroll (Chazy, N.Y./Chazy) finished with the third best time of the day in the relay, as they had a mark of 1:53.46.  

The Cardinals are next in action after the new year, as they head to Middlebury Winter Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 18.
