SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team competed in the RPI Harvest Classic on Saturday morning, placing in fourth place in their second race of the season.
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) was the first for Plattsburgh to cross the line with a 14
th overall finish, coming in at a time of 22:57.8.
Plattsburgh put together a fourth-place finish with 121 points behind Albany, RPI, and Union (N.Y.) finishing ahead of Sage, Saint Rose, and Hudson Valley Community College. After Colvin,
Anya Sloth (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) put together a fantastic race in her second collegiate meet, coming in 31
st place with a time of 24:06.3.
The Cardinals next head to St. Lawrence for the Ronald C. Hoffman Invitational on Sept. 23 at 10 a.m.
After Plattsburgh's top two runners,
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) was the next to finish, with a personal record (PR) of 25:01.8 for 43
rd place as she continues to show improvement from last season.
Sophia Gambino (Belmont, N.Y./Genesee Valley), also in her second collegiate race, put together a solid showing, finishing at 25:42.5 for 45
th place, and right behind her was fellow first-year
Kayla Grant (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George) with a 25:49.0 time for 47
th place.
Rounding out Plattsburgh's top seven runners were
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) and
Jayelee Southwell (Morrisonville, N.Y./Peru), finishing back-to-back in 49
th and 50
th place, respectively, posting times of 26:09.1 and 26:19.7. Notably, senior
Natalia Castro (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) was in 52
nd place with a PR of 26:37.2.
