CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team fell in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) action on Friday afternoon, losing 8-1 to Cortland.
Jacklin Mitchell (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Peru) was the lone Cardinal to register a victory on the day, winning at No. 6 singles
The Cardinals fall to 3-2 (0-2 SUNYAC) and will matchup with Oswego State tomorrow, Sept. 16 at 11:30 a.m. Cortland moves to 3-1 (3-0 SUNYAC) with New Paltz next on their schedule, also for Sept. 16.
In doubles play, the Red Dragons took all three matches by scores of 8-3, 8-1, and 8-4. In singles play, Mitchell posted the only win, 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6 singles, staying undefeated on the season in singles play, with a 4-0 record.
Sarah Benowitz (New City, N.Y./Clarkstown North) took the No. 2 singles match to a decisive third set and made it very close, falling 6-1, 3-6, 10-8.
