WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country earned a tenth-place finish at the 27
th James Earley Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 7, competing against 25 teams in their respective race. The Cardinals were able to get a preview of the course that will host the NCAA Division III Mideast Region Championships on Nov. 11
th, as they scored 249 points in the race and were able to familiarize themselves with a technical course.
Plattsburgh State will next race at the Connecticut College Invitational on Oct. 14
th, the team's final meet before the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships on Oct. 28
th.
The team combined for a total time of 2:04:57.99 on the 6k course and averaged 24:59.60 on the course between all of their runners.
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) had the top time once again for Plattsburgh on Saturday, coming in 19
th place with her time of 23:37.44.
Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) registered a time of 24:35.52 to earn a 40th-place finish as the second Cardinal across the line, turning in a personal record (PR) in the process.
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) continued to race well on Saturday, notching a 62nd-place finish with a mark of 25:20.96. First-year
Kayla Grant (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George) turned in her best collegiate performance yet, coming in 70
th place with a time of 25:40.02 to put herself among the top four Plattsburgh times on Saturday.
Not too far behind Grant was another first-year, as
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) was the 72
nd runner to finish, timing in at 25:44.05, also her personal record in the 6k.
Anya Sloth (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) finished in 96
th place, posting a time of 26:44.61, while
Jayelee Southwell (Morrisonville, N.Y./Peru) was 117
th with a time of 27:59.03 to round out the top seven Cardinals.
Natalia Castro (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) was the final runner for Plattsburgh to cross the line on Saturday, posting a time of 28:04.85 to round out the Cardinal runners.
