ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country competed at the 2023 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) on Saturday at Fortin Park in Oneonta, New York, finishing in fourth place.
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) placed 13
th to lead Plattsburgh, also earning SUNYAC All-Conference Third Team honors with the finish.
Plattsburgh State finished in fourth, accumulating 142 points, finishing ahead of Brockport, Oswego, New Paltz, and Fredonia. Geneseo won the team title, its 12
th straight and 22
nd overall championship, finishing ahead of Oneonta and Cortland in second and third. The Cardinals next compete at the NCAA Division III Mideast Region Championships, which will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Colvin earned All-SUNYAC honors with her 13th-place finish, notching a time of 23:24.0.
Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) took the next spot amongst her Plattsburgh teammates, placing 37
th with her mark of 25:16.3.
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and
Anya Sloth (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) found themselves just behind Smith, placing 41
st and 44
th, respectively, with times of 25:29.2 and 25:40.2.
First-year
Kayla Grant (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George) rounded out the top five Plattsburgh runners, finishing in 55
th place, registering a time of 26:25.2. Just six seconds after Grant,
Jayelee Southwell (Morrisonville, N.Y./Peru) crossed the finish, notching a mark of 26:31.7.
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) was the seventh runner across for Plattsburgh, finishing just under the 27-minute mark at 26:52.5 for 62
nd place.
