NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team competed at the Connecticut College Invitational on Saturday, racing in two separate races that saw a 16
th-place finish in the White Race and a 22nd-place finish in the Blue Race. Overall, the Cardinals had personal records (PR) from a large number of their athletes, as they competed on a fast course against some strong competition.
With the completion of today's meet, Plattsburgh now turns its attention to postseason play, with the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships next up on the schedule on Saturday, Oct. 28 at Oneonta's Fortin Park.
The women's 6000-meter (6k) white race departed first and saw three PRs from the five runners that competed. The team also posted 457 points for a 16th-place finish. Senior
Natalia Castro (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) finished first for the Cards and registered a personal best, notching a time of 26:30.00.
Julia Robinson (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) and
Kailyn Ginter (Northville, N.Y./Northville) each set personal records with times of 28:46.70 and 29:05.80, respectively. The final two to finish in the white race for Plattsburgh were
Grace Boyle (Blauvelt, N.Y./Tappan Zee) and
Jodie May (Scotia, N.Y./Scotia-Glenville), with Boyle registering a time of 29:06.80 and May a time of 30:28.20.
In the 6000-meter blue race, the Cards had four PRs and finished in 22nd place with 622 points.
Marissa Colvin (South Glens Falls, N.Y./South Glens Falls) had another strong outing, registering a time of 23:22.10 for an 85th-place finish as the first Cardinal across the line. Posting a new personal best,
Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) finished in 142nd place, posting a time of 24:16.00.
Anya Sloth (Oneonta, N.Y./Oneonta) had a time of 24:25.00 for third amongst the Plattsburgh runners and
Kayla Grant (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George) had a new collegiate best with a 24:43.70 mark.
Lillian Moran (Albany, N.Y./Colonie Central) was another Cardinal with a PR on Saturday, posting a time of 24:54.80 as the next Cardinal across.
Ginny Lucchetti (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) was just behind Moran with a mark of 25:05.50, and
Jayelee Southwell (Morrisonville, N.Y./Peru) had a strong time with a personal best time of 25:40.40 as the final Cardinal to score points on Saturday.
