BROCKPORT, N.Y. – Three Cardinals posted runner-up finishes, as the Plattsburgh State women's track and field team placed fifth out of nine teams with 54 points following the second and final day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Outdoor Championships hosted by SUNY Brockport on Saturday.
Senior
Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) took second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.17, senior
Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) placed second in the 400-meter hurdles with a standard of 1:02.03 and senior
Journey Myricks (Westbury, N.Y./Shaker) finished as runner-up in the discus throw (35.61 meters – 116' 10").
Junior
Jasmine Piper (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Plattsburgh) scored points for the Cardinals in the discus throw with a fourth-place toss of 33.47 meters (109' 9"), Myricks and senior
Kaitlyn Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) finished fourth (11.67 meters – 38' 3.5") and fifth (11.64 meters – 38' 2.25"), respectively, in the shot put, sophomore
Michaela Schaffer (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) took fifth in the triple jump (10.79 meters – 35' 4.75") and senior
Kristen Boerke (Washingtonville, N.Y./Washingtonville) ranked eighth in the high jump (1.47 meters – 4' 9.75"). The 4x400-meter relay team of McDonough, Barber, first-year student
Morgan Thompson (Porter Corners, N.Y./Corinth) and sophomore
Hannah Cluck (Johnson City, N.Y./Johnson City) took fifth (4:13.75), while the 4x100-meter relay squad of Thompson, Boerke, junior
Deanna Zoch (Nassau, N.Y./Columbia) and Cluck placed sixth (54.44).

Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) in the 5,000-meter run (10th, 19:46.84), sophomore Katie Bergé (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) in the heptathlon (10th, 2,480 points), senior
Bliss Rhoads (Copake, N.Y./Taconic Hills) in the shot put (10th, 10.82 meters – 35' 6") and junior
Mikayla Osmer (Cutchogue, N.Y./Mattituck) in the heptathlon (11th, 1,970 points).
Plattsburgh State next competes at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Outdoor Championships from Wednesday-Thursday, May 18-19, at Moravian College.
