Women's Track and Field Competes at Southern New Hampshire Penman Relays

MANCHESTER, N.H.
– The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team placed eighth out of 15 teams with 39 points at the Southern New Hampshire Penman Relays hosted by Southern New Hampshire University on Saturday.
 
Senior Journey Myricks (Westbury, N.Y./Shaker) posted the Cardinals' top individual performance of the meet, placing second in the discus throw with a toss of 36.75 meters (120' 7"), and she added a fifth-place finish in the shot put (10.95 meters – 35' 11.25"). The 4x100-meter relay of Thompson, Cluck, Zoch and Landman also placed second, clocking a time of 52.67.
 
Other top-eight individual performances came from senior Kaitlyn Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) in the shot put (third, 11.37 meters – 37' 3.75"), first-year student Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) in the 5,000-meter run (fourth, 20:09.68) and senior Bliss Rhoads (Copake, N.Y./Taconic Hills) in the javelin throw (seventh, 10.94 meters – 101' 6"). In addition, the 4x400-meter relay team of Thompson, Cluck, Zoch and Landman charted a fourth-place time of 4:24.83.
 
Plattsburgh State next competes at Middlebury College on Saturday, April 23, in a tri-meet with Middlebury and Union College.
