ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Seniors Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) and Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) each scored points for the Plattsburgh State women's track and field team on the final day of the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships hosted by Nazareth College on Saturday, helping the Cardinals finish 19th out of 31 teams with 10 points.
 
McDonough finished as runner-up in the 800-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:14.66. She ranked fourth through 200 meters before climbing to third at the halfway point. McDonough unloaded on the third 200, clocking a split of 33.59 to move into first by .02 seconds, but senior Lisa Pink of the University of Rochester wound up edging McDonough over the final 200 meters. McDonough's time ranks 22nd in NCAA Division III, meaning she has a chance of qualifying for the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships.
 
Barber placed seventh out of 15 runners in the 400-meter dash, clocking a time of 1:00.15. She split a 27.84 through 200 meters, which was the fifth-fastest split in the field.
 
McDonough now will await potential selection into the NCAA Championships, as the field will be announced on Sunday, March 6, at 7 p.m. on ncaa.com. The 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Championships occur from Friday-Saturday, March 11-12, at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. Plattsburgh State opens up its outdoor season on Saturday, March 26, at the Saints Spring Breaker Open hosted by St. Lawrence University.
