CANTON, N.Y. – Senior
Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) set a meet record in the long jump, as the Plattsburgh State women's track and field team opened up the outdoor portion of its schedule with a third-place finish out of five teams (101 points) at the Saints Ice Breaker Open hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday.
Barber posted a mark of 5.20 meters (17' 0.75"), bettering the former meet record of 4.53 meters set by Alessandra Uriarte of St. Lawrence in 2018. In addition, Barber placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33.80.
Junior
Jessica Landman (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent) placed second in both the 100-meter dash (13.22) and the 200-meter dash (27.63), while sophomore Katie Bergé (Fayetteville, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) took second in the high jump (1.32 meters – 4' 4"). Junior
Mikayla Osmer (Cutchogue, N.Y./Mattituck) took third in the high jump (1.32 meters – 4' 4"), while senior
Journey Myricks (Westbury, N.Y./Shaker) posted the third-best mark in the discus throw (33.11 meters – 108' 7").
Plattsburgh State next competes at the Saints Broken Open hosted by St. Lawrence on Saturday, April 2.
