WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team kicked off action at the RussMatt Central Florida Invitational with a 27-17 victory over Gallaudet University on Friday.
The Cardinals pounded out 22 hits in the victory, while senior pitcher
Sean Malamud (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) earned his second victory in a Plattsburgh State uniform, allowing six runs (three earned) on six hits while striking out six in seven innings of work.
First-year third baseman
Kyle Cremin (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Kennedy Catholic) batted 5-for-6 with five RBI and three runs scored to lead the Plattsburgh State attack, while junior left fielder
Mike Rasquin (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) and junior shortstop
Andrew Veit (Yaphank, N.Y./Bellport) each scattered three hits.
Plattsburgh State rises to 1-0 overall with the win and next faces Loras College in a 9 a.m. doubleheader on Sunday, March 13, at 9 a.m.
