BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's track and field team placed fourth out of nine teams with 33 points following the second and final day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Championships at SUNY Brockport's Special Events & Recreation Center on Saturday.
 
Senior Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.62, while senior Rebecca Block (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) took fourth in the mile (5:24.90). Senior Janyll Barber (Dannemora, N.Y./Saranac) finished sixth in the 400-meter dash (1:00.21), while senior Kaitlyn Bjelko (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown) placed eighth in the weight throw (13.30 meters – 43' 7.75"). The Cardinals' 4x400-meter relay team of Barber, junior Jessica Landman (Barneveld, N.Y./Holland Patent), McDonough and first-year student Morgan Thompson (Porter Corners, N.Y./Corinth) also scored points, placing fourth with a time of 4:16.87 to edge out SUNY Oneonta for the fourth spot in the final team standings.
 
First-year student Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) took 12th in the 3,000-meter run (11:11.33), sophomore Michaela Schaffer (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) placed 15th in the long jump (4.70 meters – 15' 5") and seniors Journey Myricks (Westbury, N.Y./Shaker) and Bliss Rhoads (Copake, N.Y./Taconic Hills) finished 17th (11.55 meters – 37' 10.75") and 22nd (11.14 meters – 36' 6.75"), respectively, in the weight throw to round out the Plattsburgh State student-athletes who competed on Saturday.
 
SUNY Geneseo captured the team title with 337 points to earn its fifth consecutive conference championship.

A select number of student-athletes move on to compete at the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Indoor Championships from Friday-Saturday, March 4-5, at Nazareth College.
