WATERFORD, Conn. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team placed 15th out of 24 teams with 426 points at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championships hosted by Connecticut College at Harkness Memorial State Park on Saturday to close out the 2021 season.
Senior
Rebecca Block (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North) recorded the Cardinals' top performance of the afternoon, navigating the six-kilometer course in a 45th-place time (out of 172 runners) of 23:44.5. Senior
Aislyn McDonough (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) placed 59th with a time of 24:11.9, while first-year student
Sarah Smith (Lake Pleasant, N.Y./Wells) took 86th (24:52.2). Senior
Kristen Thomas (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and first-year students
Lauren Purvis (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool),
Skyler Misiaszek (Castleton, N.Y./Maple Hill) and
Emma Ginnane (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) rounded out Plattsburgh State's top seven runners, placing 110th (25:34.7), 134th (26:21.0), 148th (26:53.3) and 150th (27:00.5), respectively.
The Cardinals were just four points back of 14th-place Trinity (Conn.) College. Williams College won the team title with 90 points, while Williams' sophomore Genna Girard crossed first individually with a time of 21:36.0.
