WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team competed at the highly competitive Purple Valley Classic hosted by Williams College on Saturday, participating in the six-kilometer race.
Junior
Jazz Roberts (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland), the reigning PrestoSports State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week, was the first Cardinal to cross the finish line, covering the course in 24:24.8 to place 29th out of 160 runners. Sophomore
Rebecca Block finished 98th with a time of 26:31.1, while senior
Mikayla Barrett (Rotterdam, N.Y./Schalmont) registered a time of 29:44.4 to place 150th. Freshman
Madison Myer (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) rounded out the Cardinals at the meet with a 32:03.0 standard (155th).
Tufts University placed first in the team standings with 60 points, followed by Williams (second, 68 points) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (third, 72 points). Tufts' freshman Sabrina Gornisiewic finished first individually with a time of 22:44.2.
Plattsburgh State next competes at St. Lawrence University's Ronald C. Hoffman Invitational—which will also serve as a pre-Atlantic Regional meet on the NCAA Atlantic Regional Championships course—on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 12 p.m.
