CORTLAND, N.Y. – Senior defender
Sarah Bonner (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) of Plattsburgh State has been named the PrestoSports State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women's Soccer Defensive Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 22, 2019, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Bonner was part of Plattsburgh State's defensive unit that tallied its second shutout of the season with a 5-0 win over Colby-Sawyer College on Tuesday, Sept. 17. The Cardinals limited the Chargers to five shots overall and two shots on goal. Bonner also tallied a career-high three assists, including a helper on the game-winning goal. With her three assists, Bonner leads all SUNYAC defenders with eight points this season. She is tied for second among all SUNYAC student-athletes with four assists.
It is first time that Bonner has been named SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Plattsburgh State begins SUNYAC play at Fredonia on Friday, Sept. 27 at 4 p.m.
