MILTON, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's cross country team is competing at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championships hosted by SUNY New Paltz at the Hudson Valley Sportsdome in Milton, N.Y., Saturday morning. The women's race, which will begin at 11:45 a.m., will cover six kilometers, and the awards ceremony will occur at Studley Theater on New Paltz's campus.
The Cardinals placed fifth at last year's championship, and this season, they bring a new-look team to the conference meet.
With junior
Jazz Roberts (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland), a three-time PrestoSports SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week in 2019, sidelined due to injury, Plattsburgh State will rely heavily on the contributions of sophomore
Rebecca Block (Lake Grove, N.Y./Sachem North), who has been the Cardinals' second-fastest runner all season. Block clocked a 24:17.7 six-kilometer time at the Connecticut College Invitational.
Sophomore
Kristen Thomas (Islip, N.Y./Islip) and sophomore
Aislyn McDonough (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) have served as Plattsburgh State's No. 3 and No. 4 runners, respectively, this year and will help lead the Cardinals, while senior
Mikayla Barrett (Rotterdam, N.Y./Schalmont) and freshmen
Madison Myer (Carthage, N.Y./Carthage) and
Ashlyn Hatzis (Highland Mills, N.Y./Monroe-Woodbury) will also contribute to Plattsburgh State's scoring.
