CANTON, N.Y. – Plattsburgh State women's cross country's junior
Jazz Roberts (Albany, N.Y./Guilderland) posted perhaps her best performance yet in a season full of memorable races, as she finished second in a 220-runner field at the Ronald C. The six-kilometer course is the same one that the Cardinals will compete at on Saturday, Nov. 16, at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships.
Roberts charted a time of 22:37.0 and averaged a 6:04 mile pace, edging SUNY New Paltz's senior Emily Cavanagh for the runner-up spot by 4.1 seconds. Roberts was in 10th place through 955 meters and had moved up into second by the two-mile mark. She continued to hold off Cavanagh down the stretch, and Roberts ended up with the top finish among State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) runners at the meet.
