NEW LONDON, N.H. – The Plattsburgh State women's soccer team is now 2-0 to start the season after completing the sweep of the weekend with a 2-0 win over Colby-Sawyer on Saturday at Kelsey Field.
Standout freshman forward
Allison Seidman (Commack, N.Y. / Commack) scored the Cardinals first goal off a breakaway in the 12th minute. Seidman has recorded two goals and two assists on the weekend in her first two collegiate games of her career.
Junior forward
Katie Matott (Rouses Point, N.Y./Northeastern Clinton) got her third goal of the season in the 39th minute off a thru ball from freshman forward
Kirsten Villemaire (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) to make the game 2-0.
The Cardinals outshot the Chargers 10-4 in the first half. Plattsburgh State's defense only allowed three shots to get through to graduate goalkeeper
Taylor Adams (Schenectady, N.Y./Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) who protected the net no problem.
Plattsburgh State recorded 13 shots in the second half, six on goal, compared to Colby-Sawyer's five with two on net.
Adams made five saves to pick up her second win and first clean sheet of the season.
Seidman recorded five shots on goal, Matott had three and sophomore midfielder
Abigail Seamans (Diamond Point, N.Y. / Bolton Central) had two.
The Cardinals will have their home opener Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 7 p.m. against Union College.
