Baseball Falls To NYU 12-2

TAMPA, Fla. – The Plattsburgh State baseball team is now 5-6 overall after falling to NYU 12-2 Friday evening at the New York Yankees Training Complex.

Sophomore Alex Follmer (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Plattsburgh) went 2-for-2 at the plate while freshman Anthony Maag (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) was 1-for-2.

NYU scored two runs in the first both off singles.

Maag singled down the left field line to plate freshman Simon Alvarez (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. / Arlington) and sophomore Keller Kowalowski (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) tied the game.

NYU doubled in the bottom of the second to plate two. They scored five more runs in the third off two walks, two singles and a sacrifice fly.

NYU plated two in the fourth and one in the sixth.

The Cardinals held them off in the seventh and eighth but were unable to make any more offensive plays and took the ten run loss.

Junior Patrick Bryant (Center Moriches, N.Y. / Center Moriches) pitched 2.1 innings and gave up 8 hits, nine runs and walked four.

Sophomore Brantley Marion (Plattsburgh, N.Y. / Beekmantown) pitched 3.2 innings and scattered five hits, three runs and walked two.

Sophomore Jason Fingerhut (Smithtown, N.Y. / Smithtown West) pitched 2 innings gave up one hit, walked one and struck out one.

The Cardinals will play their final game of spring break against the University of Wisconsin-Stout Saturday, March 17 at 9 a.m.
