POTSDAM, N.Y. – It was all Plattsburgh State on Tuesday night as the women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and sailed past the SUNY Potsdam Bears 61-27.
The Cardinals exploded in the first quarter for 22 points.
Stephanie Linder got Plattsburgh going as she hit a jumper and an early three pointer. Teammate
Jax Miller nailed two three's and
Devona Paul added a couple layups to help the Cardinals open the game on a 15-0 run.
Breanne Sapp ended Potsdam's scoreless drought that saw the Bears open the game 0-11 from the field.
The Cardinals continued to dominate, leading 22-4 after the first quarter and 37-10 at the intermission.
Miller opened the scoring in the second half with a three to extend Plattsburgh's lead the 30. Miller finished the contest with 12, including 4-7 shooting from three point range.
Paul had another standout performance for the Cardinals, scoring 14 points and eight rebounds.
Allie Taylor seemed to embrace her roll off the bench, sealing a double-double on a game high 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Patti Dorgler lead the Bears with six points and five rebounds..
Plattsburgh State improves to 9-5 this season and 3-4 in SUNYAC play. Potsdam drops to 1-13 overall and 0-7 in conference.
The Cardinals will return home for a set of SUNYAC games scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Memorial Hall.
