Box Score OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women's basketball team survived a late push by Oswego State, holding off the Lakers for a 50-44 victory on Friday night.
The Cardinals saw good production in the first half of play, holding a 27-18 advantage at the break.
It was the second half where the Lakers made a push, outscoring Plattsburgh through the final two frames. Taylor Sorell nailed a three pointer with roughly two and a half minutes remaining in regulation to bring the Lakers within two of the Plattsburgh lead. However it was
Shawna Thornton who answered with a huge three pointer of her own on the very next play to extend the Cardinal lead and diminish the Lakers comeback attempt.

Devona Paul led the way for the Cardinals, scoring 20 points, grabbing nine rebounds and swatting six shots in the winning effort. Senior
Allie Taylor chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds while Thornton finished with eight points. The Cardinals newest acquisition,
Monique Jones, made her presence felt by scoring seven points, snagging five rebounds and a pair of steals.
The Lakers were led by Taylor Sorell who scored a team-high 14 points. Courtney Ameele added 11 points and four rebounds while Zana Dillard grabbed a game-high 18 rebounds.
With the win the Cardinals improve to 8-4 (2-3 SUNYAC) while the Lakers fall to 2-10 (0-4 SUNYAC).
Plattsburgh State will look to keep the momentum rolling tomorrow in Cortland as they square off with the Red Dragons at 2 p.m.
