PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State men's hockey returned to the ice Saturday night for an exhibition game against Andre-Laurendeau, defeating the Boomerangs 5-2.
After a scoreless opening period the Cardinals awoke for two tallies in the middle frame.
Freshman
Jesse Neher netted the first of his two goals on the night at the 2:31 mark. Fellow freshman,
Cam Owens was credited with one of two his assists on the play.
The Cardinals would make it 2-0 on a shot from freshman defender
Ryan Chiasson converted on the power play.
Andre-Laurendeau would chip the lead back to one with 2:41 left in the second period. Xavier L. Boucher scored both Boomerang goals Saturday evening.
In the third period the Cardinals would pull away scoring three goals in the final 20 minutes.
Santino Ragone would be the third freshman to score when his shot connected bar down to make it 3-1.
After Andre-Laurendeau cut the lead back to one at 3-2, the Cardinals would score the final two goals.
Sophomore defender
Ayrton Valente light the lamp with 3:23 left before Neher would salt it away with an empty netter.
The Cardinals will open the regular season on October 31, 2015 when they visit SUNY Canton. Plattsburgh State defeated the Kangaroos 8-0 last season.
