Stewart Hits the 50 Career Goals Milestone in a 5-1 over Neumann

Aston, Pa. – The Plattsburgh State women's hockey team followed up Saturday night's 3-1 win with a 5-1 victory Sunday afternoon.
 
Kayla Meneghin started the scoring for the Cardinals for the second day in a row as her shot beat Knights goaltender Justina Mayr 11:45 into the first period.
 
Plattsburgh would tally three goals in the second period including two on the power play. Giovanna Senese opened the scoring 1:29 into the period, freshmen Melissa Sheeran and Meneghin picked up the assists.
 
The next two goals would be from two seniors on the power play within two minutes of each other. First was Alyssa Parke followed up by the first of two goals on the afternoon for Shannon Stewart to give the Cardinals a 4-0 lead.  
 
Neumann would get on the board with a power play goal of their own in the third period as Shanelle Doucette scored her first of the season.
 
Stewart would respond just 32 seconds later to put the Cardinals back up four goals. In Sunday's game Stewart collected her 50th and 51st career goals in a Plattsburgh uniform.
 
Ally Ross got her fourth-straight start for the Cardinals making 12 saves on 13 shots. Mayr also played in her fourth game of the season making 32 saves on 37 Cardinal shots.
 
Plattsburgh now moves to 3-0-1 (2-0-0 ECACW) while Neumann suffered their fourth-straight loss and now finds themselves in a 0-4-0 (0-2-0 ECACW) hole.
 
Plattsburgh will have its home opener this Saturday for a double header against another ECAC West team from Pennsylvania in Chatham. Saturday will also mark a special evening for the Cardinals as they will be doing their 2013-14 NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey Championship banner raising ceremony before the game at the Ronald B. Stafford Ice Arena.
