Box Score ONEONTA, N.Y. – After the Plattsburgh State women's soccer team battled back to tie the game in the 79
th minute the Oneonta Red Dragons scored with just 47 seconds left to nip the Cardinals 2-1.
It was another slow start for Plattsburgh as the first half saw a scoreless period. This was the seventh game this season that featured the Cardinals tied 0-0 at the half.
However it didn't take long in the second half to break the tie as the Red Dragons struck less than a minute and a half in the new period on Laura Rolston's first collegiate goal.
Rolston was on the receiving end of a Kayla Ceschini corner kick. The freshman was just a few feet away from the goal and was able to beat senior goalkeeper Danielle Schmitt short side.
It took the Cardinals 32 minutes to strike the equalizer and get the score back even. Cammey Keyser who had a great opportunity to score in the first half made up for it when she finished her second goal of the season in the 79
th minute. Keyser received a cross from Lindsey Bushey that she untimely headed in.
Plattsburgh feeling the momentum from the goal generated two shots on goal in the 86
th and 87
th minute but Red Dragon net minder Kelley Murphy saved them both which would prove vital as Oneonta would counter and score with just 47 seconds left in regulation.
The Red Dragon goal came on another corner kick taken by Ceschini. The original corner was denied but the ball bounced back to Ceschini and she sent it back in the box again this time connecting with the head of Jessica Lyden who found the back of the net.
Plattsburgh dropped both game this weekend on the road and fall to 6-5-1 and 2-2-1 in the SUNYAC. Oneonta moved to 5-6-2 overall but more importantly 3-2-1 in the SUNYAC.
The Cardinals will look to correct their ways Friday and Saturday when they return home to host Fredonia and Brockport at the Field House Complex.
